Abstract
The CONAMA 357/05 lays down the conditions and emission standards adopted for the control of effluent discharges in the receiving body. The sewage treatment systems seek to reduce the impact of the release of effluents into water bodies receiver, given this resolution. On the other hand, the sludge generated in sewage treatment plants has become a growing problem being considered as waste. This work aims to verify the feasibility of incorporating sludge sewage treatment plant (ETE) in the composition of traditional ceramics. For this sludge samples were collected at the ETE Verde SANEPAR in the city of Ponta Grossa-PR and clay Ceramic in the city of São Geronimo, Prudentópolis-PR. The sludge in the ETE Verde is subjected to a cleaning process, significantly reducing the concentration of pathogens in the waste. The sludge in the ETE Verde is subjected to a cleaning process, significantly reducing the concentration of pathogens in the waste. The process used is caleação, which promotes stabilization, thermal and chemical disinfection by the addition and mixing of the lime sludge to a percentage of 30% to 50% by dry weight sludge. For the characterization of silt and clay were analyzed X-ray diffraction, differential thermal and thermogravimetric analysis, fluorescence spectroscopy X-ray and particle size distribution were made. The compositions studied were made with additions of 5 to 50% by weight of the ceramic mass sludge. After mixing the sludge with clay, the samples were processed by uniaxial pressing and sintered at temperatures of 900°C, 1000°C e 1100°C. The sintered samples were characterized by measurements of bulk density, water absorption, apparent porosity, mechanical strength, X-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopy. After verifying the feasibility of using sludge WWTP in ceramic body, these were processed by extrusion and sintered ceramics in the city of São Gerônimo, Prudentópolis-PR. The results showed that the addition of sludge to 15% of the mass of the clay meets all parameters recommended by current standards.
