Abstract

This dissertation explores the intersection of gender inequality, migration, and labor market insertion, focusing on the experiences of Venezuelan migrant and refugee women in Ponta Grossa-PR, Brazil. The study emerged from contact with migrant women during extension activities and a mandatory internship in Social Work at IESOL - Solidarity Entrepreneurship Incubator. Some reports showed a worsening of gender inequality, especially for women. This work seeks not only to understand the reality of Venezuelan migrant women in Ponta Grossa-PR but also to contribute to the empowerment of these women, strengthen existing public policies, guide the needs of new social policies, and enrich the academic literature on gender in migratory contexts. The research adopts a qualitative and exploratory approach, using bibliographic review, documentary research, and interviews with women participating in the extension project of the State University of Ponta Grossa and Caritas Diocesana, from 2019 to 2020. The interviews revealed that the working conditions of these women are precarious and that they face additional challenges upon arriving in Brazil, intensifying the gender inequality they already experienced in their countries of origin.
