Contribuições da agroecologia produzida no assentamento Maria Rosa do Contestado para a soberania alimentar no Município de Castro - PR

Abstract

Social-territorial movements, such as the Landless Rural Workers' Movement (MST), play an important role in promoting food sovereignty through agroecological practices. This study examines the Maria Rosa do Contestado Settlement (Castro-PR), investigating how its agroecological practices contribute to the construction of Food Sovereignty. For this qualitative research, questionnaires were applied to settlers, along with on-site analysis, to understand how Agroecology is conceived and applied by the settlement's farmers.The study also aimed to characterize the agroecological production of the settlement and investigate its commercialization. As results, the research shows that the settlers contribute to the production of Food Sovereignty by producing agroecological food primarily intended for the nutrition of children and the elderly through government programs. The study also highlights that challenges still exist in this process of building Food Sovereignty. However, the Maria Rosa do Contestado Settlement stands as a case of rural resistance and struggle for agrarian reform through agroecological production. The findings suggest that through the agroecological practices developed by this Social-Territorial Movement, it is possible to advance in the construction of Food Sovereignty.
