Abstract
Loss of skin integrity may be due to factors such as trauma, surgical interventions and chronic wounds. Its cicatrization is a dynamic, interactive and difficult process, that can still be compromised or even inhibited by bacterial infections. Most skin lesions heal naturally, however, serious wounds require treatment, in which dressings are used. An ideal dressing should adapt to the application surface, prevent dehydration and penetration of microorganisms. In this way, the objective of this work was to develop a polymeric film incorporated with silver nanoparticles produced by green synthesis with the purpose of assisting in the process of repair of cutaneous wounds. Silver nanoparticles were produced from the aqueous extract of ginger and exposure to artificial light. The polymer film was prepared by the casting method, to which the silver nanoparticles were incorporated. Polymer films and silver nanoparticles were characterized. Visual analysis of samples and UV-vis spectrometry showed that silver nanoparticles were formed within 42 minutes of exposure to artificial light; the nanoparticles obtained had an average size of 92.6 nm; polydispersity index of 0.196; The film produced was flexible, with a smooth surface and a thickness of 207 μm, with a mean strain strain of 1.8180 N/mm2 and a mean strain of 26.4621. It was possible to conclude that the polymeric film incorporated with the AgNPs presented with semi-occlusive characteristics, good exsudate absorption capacity and with adequate mechanical properties and are therefore suitable for application as a dressing in the treatment of open, clean wounds.
