Abstract
Skin is an important component of outer beauty, it is the focus of many surgical and non-surgical procedures. Skin changes associated with intrinsic or extrinsic aging, such as wrinkles, sagging and pigmentation changes, can cause people to look for cosmetic procedures to improve the appearance of their skin. Studies demonstrate the importance of organic silicon in the production of type I collagen. The present work aimed to study the development of Silicium P® polymer nanoparticles. The
nanoparticles were obtained by the nanoprecipitation technique. These presented mean diameter of 208.1 nm, polydispersity index of 0.225, zeta potential of -31.5 and pH 5.61. An analytical method was developed and validated by UV-VIS spectroscopy in order to allow a reliable determination of the encapsulation efficiency and cutaneous permeation of the drug. This method presented selectivity, linearity, precision and limits of detection and quantification satisfactory. The encapsulation efficiency was 96.9% ± 0.008. The test was also carried out to evaluate the cutaneous permeability of Silicium
P® polymer nanoparticles, where in 48 hours the permeability was 80.53%. Antimicrobial evaluation of polymer nanoparticles was performed. No nanoparticle showed antimicrobial activity against the strains tested, whereas Silicium P® showed minimal inhibitory concentration in 2.5 mg.mL-1 . Silicium P® polymer nanoparticles may be further inserted into creams or gels for topical use for the production of collagen.
