Ensino de história, literatura e história em quadrinhos: representações de gênero nos quadrinhos de Dom Casmurro de Machado de Assis.

Abstract

Comic book's adaptations of literature are being produced and distributed in schools to meet the demand of the National Textbook Program (PNLD). Noticing the presence of this kind of material in school libraries, this research sought to propose a reflection on the gender debate in the teaching of History through the comics of Machado de Assis' Dom Casmurro, by screenwriter Wellington Srbek and by the illustrator José Aguiar published in 2017, and from that to produce a teaching material aimed at History teachers. For that, a bibliographic review of the elements that make up the work was carried out, the use of literature as a historical source, about the use of literature as a documental source in the teaching of History, about gender studies, about the gender issue in classes of History, about gender analysis in literature, about the use of comic books in the teaching of history and about the discussion of gender in comic books. The theoretical basis about the construction of representations was in charge of Roger Chartier, while the theoretical debate on the gender issue was referenced in Joan Scott's work. The analysis of verbal and non-verbal languages (written and in images) of comic books contributed to quantify how female and male are represented in different temporalities and historical contexts and that sexist and patriarchal views still persist as residualities and reminiscences in school environments and materials as well as in comic book literary works. The result of the analysis led to the production of teaching material for teachers that seeks to contribute to the critical debate about gender representations in History teaching.
