Abstract

The reconfiguration of history education and the involvement of women in Brazil's political sphere have emerged as crucial topics. This study takes a critical approach to analyzing gender discourses in national periodicals, particularly through the lens of Dilma Rousseff's case and the 2016 impeachment. The restructuring of history education entails revising traditional paradigms to include more inclusive and representative narratives. Within this context, the aim was to create educational resources for teaching History, grounded in a gender-based analytical approach. The specific goals include analyzing women's participation in the political sphere and investigating how media discourses may have contributed to the 2016 coup. The documentary methodology involves selecting issues of VEJA magazine, focusing on media discourses concerning women's political participation in Brazil between January 2015 and August 2016. This study sought to provide an alternative perspective on Brazilian history, rooted in gender theory, with foundational contributions from authors like Joana Pedro and Joan Scott. The final output, which includes both theoretical analyses and suggestions for teaching themes and activities centered on women and History, adheres to previously established documentary guidelines. This material not only complements but also enriches students' understanding by offering an alternative view of Brazil's political history through a gender lens.
