Abstract

This work aims to propose a new form of application of Modular Origami in the teaching of Geometry, especially with regard to the introduction of Regular Polyhedra, Plato Solids, since there are works that address the application of Origami with Plato's Polyhedra, however they highlight Origami only as a methodological resource to enable concrete material, in order to provide the student with a better visualization , not exploiting geometric building resources. It is important to highlight that Origami aims to motivate and assist cognitive development, enabling a better understanding of mathematics through the manipulation of pieces of paper, however it is necessary to relate each fold performed on paper with the existing mathematical properties. It is emphasized that in the teaching of Geometry, problems exert fundamental importance, given that they allow the student to put himself before questions and think for himself, enabling the exercise of logical and spatial reasoning and not only the use of formulas. In this perspective, in this work in a different way from what has been used, presenting as a proposal the use of the step by step available in apostille number 11 of the PIC (Scientific Initiation Program), present in the collection of OBMEP (Brazilian Public Schools Olympics), as well as the proposal for construction without the use of a graduated ruler to cut the paper to the ideal size , in order to better structure the mathematical concepts involved in the art of Origami, starting initially from the Axioms of Origamis, highlighting the preliminary constructions to obtain the paper in the ideal mathematical proportions without the use of graduated ruler, emphasizing the mathematical properties, for the construction of modules of triangular, square and pentagonal faces, for after assembling the five Plato Polyhedra. Modular Origami is a way to enrich classes at a low cost, because in addition to presenting manipulable objects that make the teaching-learning process more attractive and meaningful, they can provide students with a much greater in-depth geometry.
