Abstract
This research focuses on Revista Cult, one of the oldest publications specializing in culture
that still circulates in print format. The magazine proposes an expanded cultural journalism,
with texts that engage in dialogue with other fields such as sociology, politics, philosophy,
and psychoanalysis. The research aims to analyze six interviews published in Cult in the years
2017, 2018, 2019, and 2020, divided into three groups with two interviews each, representing
figures linked to the cultural, social, and political sectors. The method used for the study is
discourse analysis based on the French school. The objective of this research is to understand, through Cult's discourse, the process of constructing the interviewees’ image for the reader and the strategies the magazine uses to recognize them as contemporary intellectuals based on their positions, as well as their social relations and ideologies. This process is built through the shift from the traditional intellectual
to the organic-ideological one, as a means of legitimizing discourses and ideologies and
establishing a relationship of identification with the magazine’s editorial profile, thereby
strengthening its identity and highlighting how Cult’s cultural journalism is shaped.
