Abstract
The present work seeks to identify the professional trajectories of women who left the journalism made in the media in Brazil. It is based on the web survey on professional trajectories of Brazilian journalists from 2012 to 2017 (PONTES, MICK, 2018), which obtained 1,233 responses from all states, from the Federal District and from abroad. The study of trajectories identifies the structural changes that affected the profession, especially in view of the complex political, economic and social crisis of the country in the period. Five years later, an egress of women journalists working in the media is identified, especially those who reach the age of 30 (mostly 28-37 years). Data from the survey showed that 86 of the 280
women interviewed were out of journalism in 2017, with the exception of retirees. Thus, the analysis effort is directed to identifying the factors that cause this exit, and how they focus on the professional trajectory of these journalists. For this, the sociodemographic, income, hourly and unemployment data of the quantitative research are analyzed. And, as a second stage of analysis, profiles are selected from among the 86 interviewees, for semi-structured interview. The objective is to understand quantitatively and qualitatively what these journalists share about the reality of the category and the patriarchal structure that circumscribes the profession. To base this study, it is based on a feminist theoretical reference, studies of journalism and the sociology of professions.
