As mulheres no jornalismo do Paraná: uma análise de desigualdades de gênero no ambiente de trabalho

Abstract

This master's research studies journalism based on gender inequalities in the workplace in Paraná. Thus, it is build on two fields of knowledge: journalism and gender studies, based on authors such as Traquina (2005), Darnton (1990) and Tuchman (1983) and Pedro (2005), Scott (1995), respectively, and Saffioti (1993). The corpus of the research consists in the systematization of the results of the Profile of Brazilian Journalist (2012) and the Professional Trajectories of Brazilian Journalists (2017), which compose the quantitative data with survey responses by 115 journalists from Paraná. Added to the corpus is the discussion of gender inequalities within the profession through the analysis of data and testimonies of five interviewed journalists. In this regard, methodological procedures were used with the aid of the SPSS Software, bibliographic research and semi-structured interview, becoming a qualitative research. These mechanisms were used to answer the following problem: "What are the gender inequalities faced by journalists in Paraná?". This dissertation verified that the journalism of Paraná is formed, in its majority, by women, and they suffer harassment from sources, colleagues, superiors and also of their superior women. In addition, female journalists are more specialized and seek training to justify the positions they hold and to escape the precariousness of employment bonds, as they are the most affected. Journalism is still marked by constraints and women end up abandoning their careers. With the study of gender inequalities faced by journalists in Paraná, it is intended to contribute to the knowledge and disseminate the experiences of journalists in the peripheral scope, since these studies tend to concentrate in large centers, such as Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo.
