Identidades corporativas policiais: discursos e práticas em Ponta Grossa (1958-1988)

Abstract

This research aims to demonstrate the corporate identities of police officers in Ponta Grossa, Brazil, from 1958 to 1988. To this end, we analyzed the defense speeches of police officers present in habeas corpus proceedings, which constitute the primary sources for this investigation. The examination of these speeches, revealing police practices during the period studied, was compared with representations of police forces found in official documents and historiographies. The objective is to outline the general characteristics of the identity nature of public security professionals in these institutions, establishing possibilities for institutional improvement based on the knowledge gained.
