Associação da condição bucal na saúde geral e na qualidade de vida dos indivíduos

Abstract

Objective: To know a relationship between the patient's current oral condition and his systemic health status, as well as, the general health status, a cognitive function and quality of life, through a questionnaire based on tests already validated in other studies associated with the physical examination of the patient. Materials and Method: The study shows how clinical and observational, being carried out in the Stomatology clinic of the Dentistry course at the State University of Ponta Grossa and through a questionnaire with 48 patients, with an average age of 54 years, being performed the exam oral which includes the number of teeth remaining (NDR) or tooth loss, oral diseases, oral and masticatory function and the quality of life in oral health (OHIP-14). The systemic evaluation included the Mini Mental State Examination (MMSE), a classification of the American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) modified for Dentistry, blood pressure (BP), heart rate (HR), oximetry (OX) and body mass index ( BMI), spirometry and blood tests, including complete blood count, C-reactive protein (CRP) and glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c). Results: Inclusion criteria were observed between oral conditions and the patient's past and current medical history, significant correlation between oral conditions and loss of cognitive function, significant correlation between loss of quality of life and oral condition and still associated statistics when the systemic system and quality of life were correlated. Conclusion: Therefore, the deterioration of the oral health status negatively influences the general health status of the patients.
