Evolução e desfecho nutricional em pacientes com período de internação prolongada

Abstract

The hospital malnutrition is a frequent condition in Brazilian public institutions. Nutritional risk is associated with the increasing of mortality, worsening of general and nutritional status, besides the increasing of hospital staylength. This study aims at verifying the relation ship between nutritional risk and hospitalization time in clinical and surgical hospitalized patients of a public hospital in Ponta Grossa, Paraná. State 353 patients, 61,6% male, were evaluated. The majority of the individuals (29.7%) presented hospitalization periodof 7 to 13 days, 55.8% of patients classified as having nutritional risk and 44.2% without nutritional risk were admitted. It was observed a relation between hospitalization time and nutritional risk with worsening of nutritional status and clinical out come.
