Abstract

The interest to visit natural spaces and the search for destinations that promotes new scenarios to visitors from urban centers are the main motivation pointed to the growth of interest and consequently of trips to the National Parks, conservation areas that are located at strategic places from the point of view of conservation and restoration of ecosystems and biomes. However, not always the landscape and the characteristics of the place visited are easily understood by the general public, who can use tools to better understand the singularities they observe. These tools are commonly related to interpretive media, such as traditional folders and panels, and it can be complemented by new technologies that add value and greater experience by inserting dynamic images, 3D projections, and virtual simulations of past and future scenarios. In this way, this thesis aims to study the relationship between mobile resources and nature, to connect people to places. In order to do it, the general objective sought to analyze the non-personalized interpretive resources, based on new technologies and as specific objectives, sought to deepen the analysis regarding the applications for smartphones, to understand the reality of the Brazilian National Parks in relation to their available interpretive tools; to identify the interest and demands of visitors regarding the use of applications for Education and Environmental Interpretation and to develop a pilot app, as a case study to meet the demands pointed out by managers and visitors. In order to fulfill the aforementioned objectives, the dialectical method of investigation was applied, using laboratory and field techniques for the collection of secondary and primary data, respectively. The primary data, in turn, were reached through interviews, with semi-structured questionnaires, with open and closed questions that addressed the topics of interest to the research. As results, there is a predominance of traditional means of environmental interpretation in Brazilian National Parks, and the availability of new resources constitutes the mutual interest of managers and visitors, and applications can facilitate the relationship and understanding of the fragility of nature.
