Abstract

In the contemporary world, we are constantly stimulated by the use of images, which are presented in the real world, as well as in the imaginary world. Undoubtedly, past centuries have presented the need for us to have developed writing and speech, while we belong to a verbally oriented society. The justification for this work is based on the use of Scanimation as a pedagogical resource in educational practice, presupposed in a methodology for viewing animated images that does not require contact with screens (computer, tablet or television) on the part of the observer. Therefore, the object of study of the research is Scanimation, with the theme focused on its use as a didactic-pedagogical resource in educational practice. The problem develops from the question: can images created using the Scanimation method be used as a pedagogical resource? Therefore, our general objective will be to evaluate the use of Scanimation as a pedagogical resource to create image animations used for teaching science. As specific objectives, we list: Proposing the use of images as a representation of the world and its importance in education; Systematize Scanimation historically, its roots linked to the emergence of Cinema; Demonstrate the importance of image representation for different fields of knowledge, such as Art and Science; Investigate the construction of the moving image in Scanimation (design concepts, digital illustration and identify Scanimation production possibilities with four frames or more). The research methodology used will initially start from a bibliographical review, in order to emphasize the methodology of Scanimation animated images in the history of society. We will adopt research based on Design-Based Research (DBR), as an approach to investigation that makes it possible to bring together concepts from qualitative and quantitative research, focusing on the development of approaches that can be integrated into social practices. Now, for the analysis of the data collected from the Scanimation workshops, we will start from the bases of Grounded Theory (TF), which enables the interaction of individuals in education research, in interaction with the research context and the data, which in our case will be the Scanimation workshop. The work will be developed from four chapters, the first being titled: What is an image? Which will seek to present the definitions of image in the history of society; the second chapter, entitled: Image and Society, highlights how images have transformed the world; the third chapter, entitled: Scanimation workshop, establishes the planning and development of the workshops held on how to create a Scanimation; Finally, the fourth and final chapter, entitled: analysis of workshop data, seeks to organize and analyze data from the definitive Scanimation workshop. The research results enable us to understand the need to seek active technologies for educational practice, valuing doing and making students the protagonists of their learning process; They also point to Scanimation as a valuable didactic- pedagogical tool for Science Teaching.
