Abstract

The changes that occur in the analysis of intracranial pressure (IP) and its relationship with labyrinthitis, and the related comorbidity, are still unclear. The better understanding, changes and new forms of monitoring of these patients may favor an improvement in their quality of life. A comparison between IP and labyrinthitis, comorbidity and use of medications and their relationship, can favor the understanding of how these factors are related and, with this, promote a quick and safe assessment, and a more effective and lasting treatment can be offered. In this way, new behaviors may be adopted by doctors during treatment, based on the knowledge of a new vital sign to be monitored, providing a better view for health professionals and their segments. The techniques for monitoring intracranial pressure are characterized by invasive methods, however the technique used in this work is non-invasive monitoring, developed by the company Brain4care®, which uses a strain gauge sensor, which in contact with the scalp can capture the waves of intracranial pressure, generating reports that can be interpreted and associated with the condition of intracranial pressure. With the authorization of the Ethics Committee, 63 volunteers were included in this research, distributed in two groups, a study group with labyrinthitis (30 patients) and a control group (33 patients). Both groups had their blood pressure measured, and the monitoring of intracranial pressure for 05 minutes, always following the same criteria. An exploratory analysis of the data was performed, adopting a significance level of p <0.05. The analyzes, as well as the generated graphs, were elaborated using the statistic 7.1 package. The non-parametric analysis of variance showed that there was no significant difference between age and gender between the groups, as well as systolic and diastolic pressure, however for the study group these values tend to be higher. Regarding the P2 / P1 ratio, there was a tendency for higher values in the study group, but no significant differences were observed at the level of significance adopted. It is concluded that there are differences between the two groups studied, and the group that presents labyrinth disorders try to have higher IP and blood pressure values, in addition to using a greater class of drugs.
