Abstract
Given the challenge posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, this research investigated the
adaptation strategies of the multiprofessional team at the Psychosocial Care Center (CAPS
II) focused on psychosocial rehabilitation. Employing a qualitative approach based on
dialectical critical methodology, the research included exploratory literature review and semi-
structured interviews. The results analysis was conducted using Bardin's (1977) methodology,
involving the constitution of the textual corpus for processing in the IRAMUTEQ software, the
construction of the word cloud, and the similarity tree. Subsequently, data categorization was
performed, associating it with content analysis to treat and interpret the obtained results. The
data analysis revealed the mental health care strategies implemented by the CAPS team, with
a focus on psychosocial rehabilitation. The ability of CAPS professionals to reinvent
themselves during the pandemic underscores the importance of innovative and adaptable
practices not only in critical moments, such as a pandemic, but as an integral part of an
ongoing approach. The need for constant reinvention reflects the team's commitment to
continuous improvement and the ability to respond to emerging mental health demands in the
community. However, for this reinvention dynamic to be sustainable in the long term and not
be limited to crisis situations, robust public policies are vital. These policies should recognize
and encourage innovative practices, ensuring adequate resources, continuous professional
training, and an institutional environment that promotes creativity and flexibility. By
incorporating reinvention as an integral part of CAPS's daily practices and ensuring its support
through public policies, setbacks can be avoided, and consistent advances in mental health
care can be promoted, benefiting both professionals and service users. This study highlights
the importance of these strategies in the face of the challenges posed by the pandemic,
emphasizing the need for discussions on mental health and public policies aimed at the
citizenship of people with mental health issues in this specific context.
