Abstract

The World Health Organization (2025) indicates that, in 2022, 19.8 million deaths were attributed to Acute Coronary Syndrome, of which 85% resulted from acute myocardial infarction and stroke, representing a significant number of deaths and a relevant public health problem. The objective of this study was to analyze initial clinical outcomes and outcomes after 45 days in patients with ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) with adequate door-to-balloon time. This is a descriptive, longitudinal, and prospective study with a quantitative approach, conducted at Hospital Santa Casa de Ponta Grossa – PR, from December 2024 to August 2025, targeting patients diagnosed with STEMI. The collected information was stored in a computerized database, and the R software, version 4.5.1, was used for statistical analyses. No significant difference was observed between door-to-balloon time and the initial clinical outcomes evaluated; however, relevant delays were identified in pre-hospital care and in access to the referral center. It is concluded that the findings reinforce the need for integrated strategies and specific protocols to reduce door-to-balloon time and improve the quality of care for patients with STEMI.
