Abstract
The (re)population of the region known as Pioneer North of Paraná is enmeshed in traditional historiography that is allied with a memorialist perspective exalting the supposed protagonist role of migrants from Minas Gerais. Developing a more in-depth understanding of the region requires an effort to consider the narratives and stories of migrants and, from there, begin to comprehend this context. This proved possible through the methodology of oral history. Through oral histories, a more complex
dynamic was encountered, forged by different trajectories, families, networks, times, and conflicts, which permitted the consideration of other memories and stories of migrants from Minas who arrived in the region between the 1940s and 1960s, attracted by coffee cultivation. From these voices, the common threads of the narratives in time and space are examined. As such, it is possible to gain an understanding of ways of life and daily practices, as well as the sociabilities and environmental subjectivities of those who have seen the countryside and its practices change, as well as bring to light
a unique memory about the occupation of this region and about the subjects that participated in this process.
