Os determinantes do empreendedorismo paranaense entre os anos de 2010 a 2021

Abstract

Entrepreneurship contributes significantly to economic growth, promoting job creation and technological advancement. The state of Paraná, one of Brazil's leading economies, has shown commitment to fostering a favorable environment for entrepreneurship through public policies and private investments. The main objective of this study is to identify and analyze the determinants of entrepreneurship in Paraná in the years 2010 and 2021. To achieve this, the specific objectives are: i) to create an indicator that identifies which municipalities in Paraná have higher levels of entrepreneurship; ii) to map the spatial distribution of this indicator across the state; and iii) to estimate the determinants of entrepreneurship in Paraná through a panel data analysis using a set of socioeconomic variables. According to the level of entrepreneurship, the vast majority of municipalities in Paraná remained at a medium level of entrepreneurship The spatial analysis revealed that, although the entrepreneurship index has grown over the years, there is significant regional disparity, with rural regions and areas dependent on agriculture showing lower indices. The panel data analysis indicated that the main determinants of entrepreneurship in the state were the participation of the tertiary sector and technological development.
