Envelhecimento ,Corpo e Vivências espaciais de Homens Cis Gays na cidade de Ponta Grossa

Abstract

The study presented here was the result of an academic trajectory developed in the area of Human Geography, with an emphasis on the theme of sexualities. The research developed in this work sought to understand the relationship between sexuality, aging and space, based on the transformations and spatial experiences of twelve cis gay men and their respective aging processes. The central question was to understand how the transformations of spatial experiences occur in the body aging process of cis gay men in the city of Ponta Grossa, Paraná, and was answered through the Snowball and saturation methods, as well as the content analysis methodology. In the first chapter, the thesis presents bibliographical research highlighting a lack of the topic of sexuality and aging in Brazilian Geography. In the second chapter, the study highlighted an important discussion of the relationship between the concept of space and its relationship with the body. Spatial transformations were identified throughout the life trajectory of these subjects, which were organized between negotiated spatiality’s, resistance and the closet. This last space, even if for some it is an abstract understanding, for research, it becomes a spatial strategy of the body itself, being an important constituent element in gay life, from birth to aging, where the exit or entry becomes be subjective to each subject. The results showed that spaces such as work, university and church are spaces for negotiation in the lives of these gay men, that is, these men build survival strategies by negotiating spaces with their identities, including their own sexuality. The spaces of resistance were built by the subjects themselves, with the intention of resisting so that they can exist, such as nightclubs, friends' houses, their own homes and spaces that, at the same time, call into question the resistance that is living in the country of Brazil.
