dc.description.abstractThe emergence of multiresistant bacteria is a worldwide concern. Measures must be taken in all sectors, not only in relation to the patient who needs to take antibiotics due to illness, but also in the antibiotic prescriptions in animals that can trigger a whole chain reaction of antibiotic resistance. The objective of this work was to conduct a survey, based on an online questionnaire, with the veterinary doctors of the state of Paraná, enrolled in the Regional Council of Veterinary Medicine, as general or specific clinicians in the area of ophthalmology in order to address the Ophthalmic casuistry and treatment of different conditions of ocular surface in dogs, relating the methods of diagnosis and treatment. The results show the scarcity of complementary tests such as cytology, culture and antibiogram for the correct diagnosis of the diseases leading to the empirical use of antibiotics for the treatments. The ophthalmology veterinarian specialists appreciate the correct dosage and are cautious about the prescription of antibiotics when compared to the group of veterinarians working in the general clinic.pt_BR
dc.description.resumoO surgimento de bactérias multirresistentes é uma preocupação mundial. Medidas devem ser tomadas em todos os setores, não somente em relação ao paciente que necessita tomar antibiótico por motivo de alguma enfermidade, mas também nas prescrições antibióticas em animais que poderão desencadear toda uma reação em cadeia de resistência antibiótica. O objetivo desse trabalho foi realizar uma pesquisa, a partir de um questionário on-line, junto aos médicos veterinários do estado do Paraná, inscritos no Conselho Regional de Medicina Veterinária, como clínicos gerais ou especilaistas na área de oftalmologia com o intuito de abordar a casuística oftálmica e tratamento das diferentes afecções da superfície ocular em cães, relacionando os métodos de diagnóstico e tratamento. Os resultados mostram a escassez da realização de exames complementares como citologia, cultura e antibiograma para o correto diagnóstico das enfermidades levando ao uso empírico de antibióticos para os tratamentos das mesmas. Os médicos veterinários especialistas em oftalmologia prezam pela correta posologia e possuem uma cautela em relação a prescrição de antibióticos quando comparada ao grupo dos médicos veterinários atuantes na clinica geral.pt_BR
