dc.description.abstractThe behavior of steels when deformed by stress changes with temperature, chemical composition and strain rate, so experiments varying the strain rate and temperature are essential to analyze the effects that changes in these parameters cause on mechanical properties and in the microstructure of the duplex stainless steels. Thermomechanical tests with in situ X-ray diffraction allow obtaining relatively accurate data on micro strain and dislocation density throughout the tests, and it is also possible to separate these data relating to the phases (ferrite and austenite) of the duplex stainless steel and their respective contributions. The decrease in the temperature of the tests increased the density of defects inside the materials, especially in the austenitic phase, resulting in an increase in mechanical strength. The high density of defects resulted in a reduction in the elongation capacity of the duplex stainless steel 2101, while the 2404 maintained practically the same elongation. The influence of pre- strain on hydrogen embrittlement was evaluated in terms of percentage of elongation. Initially, a pre-strain of 11% tends to increase hydrogen embrittlement, but a more pronounced pre-strain (22%) causes the hydrogen susceptibility to be reduced. Pre- strain increases the total amount of hydrogen in the materials, but the amount of diffusible hydrogen decreases, indicating that hydrogen is trapped at trapping sites and diffusivity is reduced with increasing pre-strain. The results of dislocation density and silver decoration of the 22% pre-strained samples of duplex stainless steel 2404 indicate that the preferential path of deformation occurs in the ferrite, since there is a significant increase in the dislocation density, causing the preferential cracking of this phase. This expressive increase in the dislocation density in ferrite significantly reduced its apparent diffusivity, when compared to the apparent diffusivity of austenite; the preferred deposition sites of silver particles were changed to austenite, indicating that the apparent diffusivity of austenite was higher in this condition.pt_BR
dc.description.resumoO comportamento dos aços quando deformados por tensão muda com a temperatura, composição química e taxa de deformação, portanto experimentos variando-se a taxa de deformação e a temperatura são imprescindíveis para que se possa analisar os efeitos que as mudanças nesses parâmetros causam nas propriedades mecânicas e na microestrutura dos aços inoxidáveis duplex. Os ensaios termomecânicos com difração de raios X in situ permitem a obtenção de dados relativamente precisos de microdeformação e densidade de discordâncias ao longo dos ensaios, sendo ainda possível separar esses dados relativos às fases (ferrita e austenita) dos aços inoxidáveis duplex e suas respectivas contribuições. A diminuição da temperatura dos ensaios faz com que a densidade de defeitos no interior dos materiais seja maior, principalmente na fase austenítica, resultando em um aumento da resistência mecânica. A grande densidade de defeitos implicou em uma redução na capacidade de alongamento do aço inoxidável duplex 2101, enquanto que o 2404 manteve praticamente o mesmo alongamento. A influência da pré-deformação na fragilização por hidrogênio foi avaliada em termos porcentagem de alongamento. Inicialmente, uma pré-deformação de 11% tende a aumentar a fragilização por hidrogênio, mas uma pré-deformação mais acentuada (22%) faz com que a susceptibilidade ao hidrogênio seja reduzida. A pré-deformação aumenta a quantidade total de hidrogênio nos materiais, mas a quantidade de hidrogênio difusível diminui, indicando que o hidrogênio fica preso aos sítios aprisionadores e a difusividade é reduzida com a o aumento da pré-deformação. Os resultados de densidade de discordâncias e decoração de prata das amostras 22% pré-deformadas do aço inoxidável duplex 2404 indicam que o caminho preferencial de deformação se dá na ferrita, visto que há um o aumento significativo da densidade de discordâncias, ocasionando o trincamento preferencial desta fase. Esse aumento expressivo da densidade de discordâncias na ferrita diminuiu significativamente sua difusividade aparente, quando comparada com a difusividade aparente da austenita; os locais preferenciais de deposição das partículas de prata foram alterados para a austenita, indicando que a difusividade aparente da austenita foi superior nesta condição.pt_BR
