O OBSERVATÓRIO DA IMPRENSA COMO ESPAÇO DE CRÍTICA DE MÍDIA: ANÁLISE DOS TEXTOS DA SEÇÃO IMPRENSA EM QUESTÃO

Abstract

Media criticism of force takes place in Brazil, mainly after the period of the military dictatorship, with a redemocratization of the country, with the sense of redemption of a social function of the media. The new long-term initiatives in the area of media criticism are the Observatório da Imprensa, which is part of the journalist Alberto Dines' dream of implementing a project similar to what has already been done abroad. With the collaboration of professors Carlos Vogt, then rector of Unicamp and José Marques de Melo, also founder of Labjor, the project was born in 1996 with the objective of mapping the journalism in Brazil and going through some remodeling during these 23 years of existence, still remains in the air with the same intention. In acknowledging the importance of the site and its historical work, the purpose of this dissertation is to verify the main characteristics of the texts published in the Observatório da Imprensa, specifically in the section Imprensa em Questão, due to its monothematic and polyphonic character. The website, as it appears in the presentation page, aims to promote the participation of social actors in a broad and plural manner. In this space the collaborators can point out the correct answers, problems, mistakes and contradictions of journalism, a point that interests research. The investigative course will be around the interpretation and analysis of the collaborators of the site on the media productions. From the total analyzed, it is also intended to identify the criticisms focused on journalism in relation to other publications and the elements that prevail in these texts. Due to the difficulty of finding a specific methodology for the research, since the criteria used to make media criticism are not always clear, specific categories of analysis were developed during the research that allowed inferences to be made about the data collected.
