Abstract
Skateboarding is an extreme sport with remarkable characteristics, largely due to its high-
impact practice in the urban environment, currently prominent in different fields of society,
plus its inclusion in the 2020/2021 Tokyo Olympic Games, as well as its confirmation for the
next Olympics, confirming a favorable moment in its historical process. The research is
presented as a simple case study, which aims to analyze the field of the organizational
structure of skateboarding, initially seeking to understand how sports management has been
structured within the national scope, describing the process of modernization of the sport,
seeking to understand the performance of the entities that took the lead in the process of
structuring skateboarding, focusing on the Brazilian Skateboarding Confederation (CBS).
The research will be carried out through bibliographical analysis and official documents made
available online on the CBSK's official website. In order to broaden knowledge about the field
of skateboarding sports management, the second chapter analyzes its structure and
compliance, describing the current skateboarding sports hierarchy and how they relate to
each other. As the Confederations must follow regulations imposed by the National Sports
System (Sinesp) and the Brazilian Olympic Committee (COB), the dissertation ends by
analyzing how CBSK adapts to legislation and governance concepts, comparing the sample
related to CBSK's website and official documents, with Brazilian legislation, more specifically
with Law No. 14. 597/2023, known as the General Sports Law, which regulates sport at a
national level, together with the Primer on Governance in Sports Entities - Law 9.615/1998
(Pelé Law), which aims to be an organizing document for sports organizations. Based on the
legislation and the Governance Primer, four guiding principles were generated, the purpose
of which is to analyze whether CBSK complies with these governance concepts. We see that
skateboarding sports management initially had the private sector as the main promoter of the
sport, with this context changing during its historical process, which is still marked by political
disputes, with CBSK seeking to assert itself within the national territory.
