TRANFORMAÇÕES URBANAS E CONSTRUÇÃO SIMBÓLICA DA PRAÇA BARÃO DO RIO BRANCO, EM PONTA GROSSA - PR

Abstract

The squares are characterised as urban spaces and social use, which over time are incorporated by social groups and acquire many meanings. In the urban environment the modernity has been the sign of the thruster in space and transformations in society. Thus the spaces of squares are also constructed historically as receptárias of different symbolic layers. The object of study the Barão do Rio Branco Square located in the center of the city of Ponta Grossa-Pr, has a history characterized by different moments that made her currently be a place of memory. Initially called Largo do Rosário, sourced from a meeting point provided by the mineral springs in the region, the square as "shaped" by the different eras had transformed space, until you reach the current setting, one of the most wooded spaces from the center of the city, and therefore regarded as important by this setting. Within the square are and were very used equipment installed by the community as the Shell, the light source, the playground and the bus terminal blue dot. In this way the memory of the regulars of the square broadcast its historical importance, the succession of stages of modernity, where it is possible to understand the different uses and meanings experienced in this space. His current role and importance is one of the purposes of this work, in order to contribute to the recognition of this historic place of memory.
