Abstract

The present research had as general objective to characterize as work the activity carried out by child YouTubers from the identification of risks to the biopsychosocial health of children and adolescents inserted in this context, as well as to structure normative contributions to effectuate the priority and integral protection. As for the methodology, the research was exploratory in that it seeks to know the channels starring child YouTubers with relevance on the platform. A cross-section was performed, since only the videos published in the selected period. The objectives were qualitatively approached, with the analysis of the channels content and videos based on Bardin. And in a complementary way to the other social midia and data from the Social Blade platform. The characteristics of the channels and videos published were categorized, described and analyzed, and with that, we sought to understand the activity carried out and the way in which this realization took place. The data collection took place in the 10 channels starring child YouTubers with greater relevance in Brazil, being selected the 5 with the most subscribers on the platform and the 5 best classified in the Social Blade ranking, which considered the average between subscribers and views. 629 videos posted by the channels between January and July 2019 were analyzed. The records were organized into 9 broader categories according to content similarity criteria. Finally, as a result, it became possible to define what a YouTuber is and characterize the elements of the work relationship, as well as the risks arising from such a relationship. A form of subordination to the platform was characterized. The comparison between the data obtained and the survey and analysis of existing legislation showed that the activity carried out by YouTubers is outside legal protection and for this reason child labor is exploited.
