MODOS DE VIVER E TRABALHAR EM ITAIACOCA: TEMPO DE INDUSTRIALIZAÇÃO EM LUGAR DE MINÉRIOS (1940-2018)

Abstract

This research brings forward a discussion about how agricultural residents and workers in Itaiacoca, a rural district in Ponta Grossa-PR, live the complexity of experiences that emerge from the appearance and intensification of the mining industry in the area, and how their worries are expressed about what it means to live in Itaiacoca. For this, the study initially looks at the known methods for extracting lime cement as a properly family activity through traditional means, and follows the path of transformations brought in by the installment of factories. The impact of these transformations were collected from historical oral interviews with eleven local subjects. Another source discussed in this study relates to the possibility of implementation of a new industrial mining complex, known as a “cement factory”, when it begins to gain form from public hearings and the presentation of a study about the environmental impact. At the end of this research course what we found allows thinking about how living in this mining area is experienced. The industrialization time in an affectionate environment impacts the ways of living and working in Itaiacoca. The identity construction incorporated mining, however, the desire to remain an Intaiacoca citizen remains, as there are memory references that resist and interact through the industrialization.
