Avaliação do papel do estrogênio tópico administrado por duas diferentes fórmulas na consolidação de fraturas de ratas osteoporóticas

Abstract

The role of estrogen on the bone metabolism and osteoporosis is well know. Their effects on the osteoporotic bone healing remain controversial. Topic estrogen to enhance bone healing could avoid side effects of systemic treatment, and nanotechnology seems to be an effective form to delivery the drug. The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of local administration of estrogen by two different formulations on the osteoporotic fracture healing. Standartized femoral fractures were created in 45 ovariectomized rats. Animals were divided into three groups. Group A control, group B received conventional estrogen and group C received estrogen by nanocapsules. Fracture healing was assessed at 15 and 30 days post fracture by radiographic analysis. Group C had significantly higher callus formation than control group at D15 and histology demonstrated a higher callus formaton in grup c at d30. Our results showed that topic nanocapsules of estrogen may enhance the callus formation of osteoporotic femoral fractures in rats.
