PROVA BRASIL DE MATEMÁTICA DO 5º ANO DO ENSINO FUNDAMENTAL: RESULTADOS NAS PLATAFORMAS DEVOLUTIVAS PEDAGÓGICAS E QEdu

Abstract

This research aimed to analyze the information available in the Pedagogic Devolutive and QEdu platforms on the results of the Prova Brasil/Saeb Mathematics of the 5th year of Elementary School. The the guiding question was: What information is available on the pedagogic devolutive platform and on the QEdu portal on Results of the Prova Brasil/Saeb Mathematics of the 5th year of Elementary School? In order to develop the research, the following specific objectives were defined: a) discussing theoretical assumptions of external evaluation on a large scale; B) identifying, in the official documents, the origin, design, objectives and constituent elements of Prova Brasil/Saeb; C) analyze the documents of Prova Brasil/Saeb, mainly in the area of Mathematics; D) presenting the Pedagogical Devolution platforms and the QEdu as possibilities of access to the results of the Prova Brasil in Mathematics in the 5th year of Elementary School. The qualitative research of the documentary type had as sources the official documents of Prova Brasil/Saeb and those available online on the platforms. The dissertation is structured in four chapters. The first one deals with the research methodology and literature review. Theoretical assumptions of large-scale evaluation, while one of the domains educational evaluation study make up the second chapter, which was constructed in dialogue with Afonso (2009, 2010) Freitas (2009, 2014), Gatti (2011), Luckesi (2011), Sousa (2010), among others. The third chapter presents the contextualization of the Basic Education Evaluation System – Saeb (in Protuguese acronym), and Prova Brasil, considering the historical and legal aspects from the current evaluative design, as well as the specificities of evaluation in the area of Mathematics. The Pedagogical Devolution and QEdu platforms are presented in the fourth chapter, exploring the main functionalities of accessing the results of the Prova Brasil. The results of the research indicate in the two platforms analyzed there are possibilities of access to multiple results of the Prova Brasil/Saeb, individualized or combined, and related to the performance of schools, teaching networks, units of the federation or the Mathematics and Portuguese Language discipline. In the QEdu platform, the quantitative analysis of the results of the evaluation prevails with the dissemination of results as performance indicators in numerical values, while in the Pedagogic Devolutive Platform, the qualitative analysis of the Prova Brasil items by specialized professionals prevails to subsidize the teaching performance in classroom. The analysis of the design and functionalities of the two platforms makes possible to affirm that, whether well interpreted and used, the results can help in the analysis of the teaching and learning of mathematics. However, consulting and accessing the information available is not enough by themselves. The user needs to be able to interpret the results to use them in the school context. It certainly requires knowledge of the evaluative design of the Prova Brasil/Saeb, the basic concepts of mathematics and statistics for use and analysis of the functionalities of each one of them, and the math skills taught in the early years of Elementary School.
