Abstract
Cancer is among the leading causes of death worldwide. Melanoma is the skin tumor with poor prognosis when not treated at the onset of the disease. The characteristics of this tumor are associated with the intense secretion that these cells, with a high degree of indifferentiation, produce. Interestingly, besides these cells leds to the bloodstream catecholamines, microvesicles, and other substances, due to their morphofunctional change, they maintain the production and continuous secretion of melanin. In the middle of the two thousand years, the presence of melanuria was characterized in a patient with advanced melanoma, at that same time was reported a renal failure associated with this disease. The progression of the disease leads to nephropathy, an initial increase in blood pressure, followed by immunosuppression, sepsis, ascites and hypotension. Melanin deposits in the internal organs are common in an advanced stage. The aim of this study was to evaluate biochemical markers of hepatic and, mainly, renal damage in an experimental model of melanoma in mice. The animals were divided into three groups: control, B16F10 (murine melanoma) cell implantation and animals receiving daily injections of B1610 melanoma culture supernatant. It was evaluated in two periods ten and twenty days. The results showed that hepatic enzymes, TGO and TGP, are increased after 10 and 20 days of experimentation only in animals with melanoma; there was a loss of renal function in mice with experimental melanoma evaluated by urinary markers; the daily application of melanin and other factors derived from the melanoma supernatant did not alter the renal function of the mice.
