Enxugamento das redações de telejornalismo no interior do Paraná: abordagem sobre uma redação do principal conglomerado regional – RPC/Rede Globo

Abstract

Every year, the formal journalistic job market appears increasingly timid in the face of job cuts and team restructuring. Professionals who manage to stay in newsrooms live with a lean structure, outdated salaries and an accumulation of functions. In recent years, working in television journalism, with the increase in the number of layoffs, has become a major challenge.The reduction in payroll expenses and the use of new technologies are cited as the main reasons for layoffs and job closures. This research deals with the reduction in the number of journalists in television newsrooms in the interior of Paraná, in the last 20 years, taking as a reference the stations of the main media group in the State, Rede Paranaense de Comunicação (RPC), retransmitter of Rede Globo.The research has as its theoretical reference the issue of the relationship between capital and labor based on Marx, with support from authors such as Harvey (1980), who studies changes in the mode of production and labor relations, and Alves (2011), who discusses changes in work organization. Another reference to stand out for this research is Pavlik (2000), with his approach to the new directions outlined by journalism and the role of the professional in the face of technological transformations. And finally, regarding technological changes and new ways of producing and consuming content that have caused transformations in journalistic work, Castells (2010) helps guide the direction of this study. As a data collection instrument, qualitative research uses in-depth interviews (Poupart, 2010; Duarte, 2010). As for field research, in addition to interviewing professionals who work/worked in the PRC, the Meio Dia edition of the Ponta Grossa television news program was also observed over a period of one week. The research revealed the changes in television journalism in the interior of Paraná, impacted by technological transformations, as well as the downsizing of professionals in the newsrooms, with staff layoffs and the elimination of functions. Consequently, he also pointed out the devaluation of television journalists with the precariousness of work, information and reduced salaries.
