Abstract

This study aims to develop and implement a didactic sequence focused on teaching trigo- nometric functions in high school, to analyze its contributions to the teaching process, and to evaluate its effectiveness in pedagogical practice. The sequence explores the concepts of arcs, the trigonometric circle, and the sine and cosine functions, using math games and digital resources to make learning more dynamic and meaningful. In addiction, acti- vities are proposed involving questions from the university entrance exam and questions from ENEM, promoting contextualization of the content. The sequence was applied to a fourth-year high school class in a night technical administration course in the city of Castro, in the state of Paraná, Brazil. The results obtained from the implementation of the didactic sequence indicate that the proposal positively contributed to the students’ understanding of the content through more dynamic lessons, encouraging student en- gagement, and promoting more contextualized learning. The use of sequence was well received by the class, which showed enthusiasm for the proposed activities. Among the positive aspects highlighted by the students were effective focus during activities, moti- vation generated by competitiveness, and the perception of greater ease in understanding the content. Although the students did not point out the aspects that needed improve- ment, they emphasized that the lessons were more engaging and effective compared to conventional practices.
