Abstract

Legislators, against a backdrop of high unemployment rates, passed a law that amended Brazilian labor legislation. This law was called labor reform. The theme is relevant to investigate whether the so-called labor reform contributed to the generation of new jobs in Brazil. It is essential because it deals with legal certainty for the forces of production and its consequences for Brazilian society, especially for the working class. The work addressed the labor reform, which is widely debated due to its reflexes for the working class. The objective was to analyze the effects on new hires in 2018 and 2019 provided by the 2017 labor reform. Initially, the analyzed period would have a broader interstice, however, from 2020 onwards there was an influence of the pandemic on unemployment rates, so it was necessary to reduce the analyzed period. The question to be answered in the present investigation was based on: What are the impacts of the labor reform on new hires in Brazil in the years 2018 and 2019? The thesis defended in the investigation is that the change in legislation promoted by the labor reform did not contribute to encouraging new hires in the country, consequently, it did not reduce unemployment rates in the years 2018 and 2019. It contributed to the theme through a proposal to encourage new hires in the country.
