A trajetória de Jean Maurice Faivre (1795 -1858) e as representações dacolônia agrícola Thereza Christina, sertões do Paraná

Abstract

Considering the categorization created by historical novels of utopian socialist, for the French physician Jean Maurice Faivre (1795 – 1858) regarding the foundation of the agricultural colony Thereza Christina in 1847, in the fifth district of the province of São Paulo, today state of Paraná, this dissertation aims to understand the social, political, and cultural aspects of Faivre's trajectory. However, the analysis is not restricted to his face as a colonizer, as in traditional biographies, but incorporates the face of a son, doctor, father and intellectual. In order to achieve the aim, a documentary rescue is carried out, more specifically Faivre's manuscripts on the idealization of the colony, letters of communication and reports from the presidents of the regional province of Paraná between 1847 and 1858, addressing an internal and external criticism of these sources. Methodologically, the bias of everyday life is used, proposed by historian Benito Bisso Schmidt in a dialogue with sociology. Which results in a multifaceted trajectory study, in which the understanding of social institutions and the circles of sociability that permeate the individual's socialization process help us to understand their respective actions in society. Bearing in mind that the agricultural colony was not an isolated fact in the province of Paraná, but allied to the immigration policy of the Imperial and Provincial government. In this way, the socialist categorization given to the colony by narrators of the 21st century is problematized, analyzing the representations created for Faivre and the agricultural colony, we realize that such productions of meanings are interconnected to the paranista movement and an understanding of the official history.
