Abstract
In this work we present a study of binary stars classification using chromatic lightcurves observed by the CoRoT satellite . The experiment had as mission to make photometry of a large field with high precision. The satellite observed the center and anti-center of the galaxy for long periods of time. The satellite had four CCDs: two dedicated to the study of stellar seismology and the other two dedicated to the discovery of exoplanets. During the six years and four months it was operating, the mission observed a total of 163,665 stars in 26 star fields, producing about 177,454 light curves. In this work we study 286 light curves. After correcting the chromatic light-curves, we classify the binary star systems and identify eclipsing binaries, as 95 Algol-type binaries, which are semi-contact systems; 11
contact binaries of the Beta Lyrae type; 61 binary supercontact type W Ursae Majoris; 90 binary non-contact and 4 binary belonging to other types. After correcting the light curves, we performed a high precision modeling for eight systems, modeling that allowed us to measure important physical parameters in a binary star system. The analysis also revealed 12 intrinsic variable stars. For the class of intrinsic variables, two possible Lyrae RRs were incorrectly classified in the literature. 29 binary star systems and their periods have been determined for the first time in this work.
