The corn leafhopper Dalbulus maidis (DeLong & Wolcott, 1923) (Hemiptera: Cicadellidae) is a vector of three main pathogens that cause corn stunting complex, responsible for significant damage to corn crops in recent years in the Americas. Grain production losses due to these diseases can exceed 70%. Due to the complex interaction between the pest, pathogens, and host plant, integrated management measures are needed to minimize damage to corn crops. This study aimed to evaluate the association of a growth-regulating insecticide (buprofezin) with acetylcholinesterase inhibitors for managing corn leafhopper and corn stunting complex. Two field experiments were conducted in Ponta Grossa/PR, Brazil, during the 2024/2025 season at Agro Marochi and the second season of 2025 at Fazenda Escola Capão da Onça (FESCON). We evaluated corn leafhopper population per plant, incidence and severity of corn stunting complex, plant height, ear per plant, stem diameter, number of ear rows, number of grains per ear row, ear length, diameter, and weight, as well as thousand-grain weight (TGW) and yield. Under high pest occurrence, the association of acephate + buprofezin showed 84.4% control efficiency, with the lowest leafhopper averages per plant among treatments at V9 and V10 stages. The association had one of the lowest incidences and severities of stunting. Management practices influenced thousand-grain weight (TGW) and yield. Acephate + buprofezin showed a yield of 9828.13 kg ha-1, with a 49-bag ha-1 increase over the control, the highest among treatments. Under low population pressure, the association of acephate + buprofezin showed one of the highest numbers of grains per row, ear length, and diameter, as well as ear weight approximately 10% higher than the control. Overall, the association of buprofezin with acephate is a strategy that improves corn leafhopper management and increased yield. This study highlights that insecticide association is essential for successful pest management.
