Abstract
inequality within the realm of Brazilian public education, particularly in the aftermath of
the Covid-19 pandemic. The study pursues three specific objectives: i) to elucidate
how educational academia confronts social disparity amid the Covid-19 era; ii) to
identify the amplified social inequality within Brazil due to the pandemic, and to outline
its potential repercussions on students in the public school system; and iii) to analyse
how scholarly works in the field of Education that attend to the social inequalities in
Brazilian public education, post-Covid-19, engage with this issue. The research
methodology involves an extensive review of literature sourced from the CAPES
Periodicals Portal and the CAPES Catalog of Theses and Dissertations, utilizing
descriptors such as "social inequality," "pandemic," "covid-19," "education," "school,"
"school education," and "social inequalities" to ensure a comprehensive coverage of
relevant works. The theoretical and methodological framework underlying this study is
grounded in historical and dialectical materialism, which considers labor as the bedrock
of social existence, enabling a comprehensive understanding of reality in its essence
and entirety. The study posits that social inequality is an inherent issue in society,
stemming from the division of society into conflicting classes, perpetuating the
exploitation of one individual by another, based on the concept of private property.
Data analysis reveals that academic productions generated during the Covid-19 period
underscore how the pandemic exacerbated pre-existing social inequality in Brazilian
society, particularly within the realm of education. This was evident through the
adoption of remote learning, which posed challenges for families and students,
especially those from the working class, potentially impeding the learning process.
