Abstract

In this work we investigated the appearing of chimera states in two models that simulates the temporal evolution of a neuronal membrane potencial. Chimera states can be defined as the coexistence of coherent and incoherent patterns in coupled systems. We used both the Rulkov map, a discrete time model that reproduces bursts and spikes, and the adaptive exponential integrate-and-fire (ADEX) model, decribed by means of differential equations. For the Rulkov map we used the unidimensional version coupled in an non-local network and used the degree of coherence as diagnostic tool. For the ADEX model we also used an non-local coupling with its synaptic connection weights being updated following an plasticity rule. For this model we calculated the probability of the network show chimera states by testing random initial conditions using the local order parameter as diagnostic tool. We verified that both systems shows chimera states and also verified that in the ADEX model the plasticity rule increases the probability of chimera states in the network.
