Abstract
Agriculture has been making great technological advances due to the incorporation of modern
technologies. One of the consequences is the need to deal with a large volume of generated
data. To constantly reduce the real efforts and the searches, in time, the most efficient
strategies and the most efficient decisions, they optimize the yield and the agricultural inputs
and the natural resources. This requires a data-intensive approach and puts technology and
data aspects at the center of attention, examining processes, and relationships in business
areas. However, there is a wide availability of sources and data in different formats.
Consequently, to deal with the heterogeneity of these data, there is a need to create solutions
that reduce this disparity between the different information systems that appear at each stage
of the agricultural production processes. In this sense, ontologies are defined as information
that allow knowledge within a given domain, the sharing and set of information, as well as the
integration of information and interoperability between systems. Given this context, in this
research, the objective was to map the main classes of data generated during each stage of
the processes involved in the soybean cultivation system, through a domain ontology, with the
purpose of contributing to the analysis and management of data, and resources that facilitate
the exchange of information between agents and systems that work in these stages. To create
the ontology, the Ontology Development 101 methodology and the ontology editing tool
Protégé were used. As a result, a proposed semantic knowledge model is presented to
represent the main classes of data mapped in the soybean cropping system.
