Jovens brasileiros e a temática indígena: reflexões sobre direitos humanos, cultura histórica e interculturalidades

Abstract

In this study, we asked the Brazilian high school students' opinion, between 15 and 18 years old, about the indigenous theme and, also, we aim to understand the influence of the past on the young people positioning, especially the influence of Historical Sci-entific background. To do this, we used the quantitative methodology survey and the descriptive statistics to generate the data to be analyzed. The data we use in the work comes from a bigger project, named Residente, in which the students answered, vo-luntarily, in partner schools. Although this project has applied this tool in some Latin American countries, we limited to discuss the Brazilian data, totaling 3,694 question-naires. With this data, we intended to relate the knowledge about the past, in a general way, and the knowledge of the science of History, in a more specific way, to the res-pondent's positioning about the indigenous theme. To discuss the results, we used, as theoretical contribution, the Didactic of History, especially Jörn Rüsen, and the inter-culturality concept proposed by Catherine Walsh. With this research, we noted that there is a relation between the students positioning about the indigenous theme and the vision established by these young people in the past. Is possible to note that there is a trend towards the construction of a Critical Interculturality, in the sense of respect and construction to plurality. Finally, given the data discussed, we point out the need for school teaching of History committed to the construction of tools that enable the students to be more prepared to build a society with more respect for the diversity of existing cultures.
