Problema em Cartas: reflexões e potencialidades para uma (Socio)Educação Matemática

Abstract

This research arises from curiosity and the desire to work with adolescents in conflict who serve a detention order that is configured as a gap in research on Mathematics Education and the teaching and learning process. With the objective of understanding How the meeting between Socioeducational Youth from the Centro de Socioeducação de Ponta Grossa (CENSE) and the researcher, from letters about the problem theme, produce possibilities of thinking Mathematics Education, focusing on the problem concept adopted and discussed by the adolescents and not on the Problem Solving Methodology. We adopt the Cartographic Approach as a research methodology and as a method of data production, which will have as participating subjects the adolescents who serve a detention order in CENSE-PG. For the production of data, the subjects will correspond by means of letters that will be guided by Nonviolent Communication and will have thematic stages for the direction of the dialogue, as follows: 1) Letter of Introduction; 2) Problems (what are they?); 3) How I see Mathematics; 4) Problems of Mathematics; 5) Elaboration and resolution of problems; 6) Farewell letter. As results it was possible to understand the vision of the participating teenagers in relation to Mathematics Education, not only about the problem theme, but we were able to go beyond, reflecting about Mathematics in a general way, in all its attributions and instances. In the letters it is possible to see the importance of building a good relationship with teachers and with the school environment in order to decrease the problems related to learning, as well as to understand the concept of problem adopted by them linked to the term DIFFICULTY, showing that the difficulties related to the learning process become a bigger obstacle than the proposed situation.
