Abstract
This dissertation describes a proposal for the introduction of quantum mechanics
concepts using spectroscopy in high school, the use of commercial lamps and a
discussion about the misuse of quantum mechanics concepts by pseudoscience.
Supported by Ausubel's concepts of meaningful learning and Willingham's practical
suggestion, the classes were taught through content exposition, experiment and
encouragement to the discussion of the fundamental concepts of Quantum Mechanics
aiming at the insertion of the High School student in a vision. wide and critical of what
science is in its conception and processes involved in its construction. The work was
implemented in two classes of the third high school in a public institution in the city of
Curitiba-PR in 2017 and in a class of the third-year high school in a public institution in
the city of Colombo-PR. The classes consisted of an average of thirty students and the
activities were held in six classes from early November to early December 2017 and
beginning of April to early May 2018. After implementation, the use of spectroscopy
was feasible. For the introduction of Modern Physics Teaching in High School, the
importance of discussion and debate about the inappropriate use of Physical concepts
by pseudoscience, and the need to make effective in the classroom practices the
concepts of Modern and Contemporary Physics in order to form students with more
critical and autonomous thinking.
