Barcas novas: as paisagens de Fiama Hasse Pais Brandão

Abstract

It is proposed to read the poetry Barcas Novas, by Fiama Hasse Pais Brandão, published in 1967, at a time of great literary reinvention, during the sixties. It stands out, especially the project "Poesia 61", which Brandão participated actively assisting in their development in the writing area. The axis of analysis tends to show how this writing presents a new look on Portuguese poetry, modeling images in the middle of the poetic space and using elements such as intertextuality, metaphor and metapoesia, to seek to understand the poet's own function as ―hand that writes‖, elaborating new perceptions of reality. These perceptions are articulated with the discussions that permeate from the author's progression in "Poesia 61", along with great Portuguese poets, to the constituent elements of Barcas Novas, which for many years had already appeared in the project that the author participated. As a theoretical basis, will be used authors such as Octávio Paz, Ezra Pound, Eduardo Lourenço, and others, who discuss both the aesthetic and social functions of Literature and, more especially, Jorge Fernandes da Silveira, whose studies were particularly deepened in "Poesia 61", taking his book Poesia 61: Hoje as a landmark of years of research on this poetic event. It is hoped that, with the study presented here, it is possible to observe how the writing technique of Brandão is related to the creation of poetic images, being an attempt of the author to try the act of writing poetry, allowing several glances about his poems, such as a screen still being painted.
