Abstract

The female presence and participation in the academic environment are a recent event, but today it reflects significant advances, like the representativeness in studies, leadership positions, prestige positions, development of scientific prodution, amongst many others advances. However, challenges and obstacles that cross genre persists, affecting the academic experience. Besides situations that women are underrated and discouraged occur, they are frequent targets for moral and sexual harassment in the university. From this, the goals of this study are the violences that professors in higher education expriences and/or faces in the academic environment. Towards the teorethical framework the study has the general objective identify the presence and, where appropriate, map the differents types of violence present at the speech of the higher education teachers. The specific goals are: a) Reveal the main conditions to which higher education teachers are subjected, considering the different violence suffered; b) Demonstrate through data the modus operandi committed against higher education teachers. The epistemological positioning of this research will be the critical analytical one based on the view of Mainardes (2018), since, the integration between theory and data will be presented, as well as a critical and interpretative analysis of the research findings. The theoretical assumptions used in the research will be based on studies of Gayatri Spivak (2010), Mary Del Priore (2014), Rebecca Solnit (2017), Angela Saini (2018) e Gerda Lerner (2019). The research field is a public university in the state of Paraná. We opted for a data collection instrument in the form of a semi-structured interview, carried out with six undergraduate professors in Biological Sciences at a public university in the state of Paraná. An analytical instrument was created based on the interviewees' speeches. The results obtained provide some evidence that violence against teachers is not limited to explicit forms, it encompasses veiled manifestations, it also reveals the continuous presence of patriarchal structures, through sexist, misogynistic and stereotypical attitudes. Among other considerations, the study points to the need for higher education institutions to adopt policies to combat gender-based violence, raise awareness about the impact of machismo and implement effective mechanisms to face cases of violence and discrimination.
