Abstract
This research seeks to bring reflections on how teaching about the Holocaust can be considered,
par excellence, teaching a sensitive historical theme. But, what can we consider sensitive within
the teaching of history? This involves thinking how History Teaching has set up before sensitive
themes and their use in the field of present history. Discussions that show a live past within the
social representations that permeate contemporary society, and here the Nazi Holocaust as a
central theme. Sensitive themes such as Holocaust in the history classroom allow students to
think about conflicts and problems of the present time. Within their singularities, we have the
uniqueness of the Holocaust, but starting from his educational premise he makes us think about
today, a historical event that was humanly possible and that many of the mechanisms that
engendered him still remain alive. The debate on sensitive issues in history teaching us makes
us think paths that direct a more plural education and to give voice to students, to understand
the connections between the past / present, thinking about building a fairer society and about
human rights, and what genocides do not have more space. It is from this perspective that the
visit to the Holocaust Museum of Curitiba, the first of Brazil focused on this theme, if effective.
So, in order to realize the teachings obtained in the room and with the visit to the Museeal
institution, it is that students will use the proposed paradidactic material: butterflies in the
museum: the history of Jana Gofrit, as well as active participants in the process of construction
of knowledge historic.
