Abstract

The aim of this study is to analyze whether the award criteria related to academic productivity established by National Council for Scientific and Technological Development are sufficient to explain the process of maintenance, loss, rise and fall of the productivity grant level, as well as the result generated by its application in the profile, production technical-scientific and renewal in the field of productivity scholarship holders in the area of Physical Education between 2010 and 2020. The research considered the evaluation periods of stricto sensu postgraduate studies performed by Coordination of Superior Level Staff Improvement in the time space of 2010 to 2020 (2010-2012, 2013-2016 and 2017-2020). For the construction of this thesis the Scandinavian model (alternative format) was adopted. Data collection was performed through the analysis of the Curriculum Lattes of all Grant´s Holders in the area of knowledge of Physical Education valid in the search dates. Information about scientific production were accounted for scriptLattes v8.10 software, considering the following indicators: Bibliographic, technical and artistic productions; Orientations completed and in progress; Academic activities; Quality indicators of scientific articles. We found that: [a] There is a lack of transparency in the process of disclosing the results of the evaluation of productivity grant recipients; [b] There is no evidence that researchers who grant´s holders do not present scientific merit in terms of scientific production; [c] The criteria related to academic productivity do not fully explain the maintenance, rise, fall and loss of productivity grant concession in the area of Physical Education; [d] The productivity grant criteria tend to induce the behavior of productivity grant´s holders; [e] The dominant profile of Grant´s Holders is male, from the south/southeast region, and who research the themes of exercise/effort physiology, physical activity and health and sports training; [f] There is gradual renewal of Grant´s Holder that win the productivity grant; [f] Researchers in lower productivity grant categories/levels have lower scientific production than level 1A and 1B grant´s holders. We concluded that the criteria selecting productive researchers but need constant reflection for its improvement.
