Do ócio de Veblen ao controle das emoções de Elias: possíveis enfoques para uma interpretação do lazer.

Abstract

Este estudo busca fundamentalmente, interpretar o fenômeno lazer sob duas óticas diferenciadas. Num primeiro momento, utilizamos a “TEORIA DA CLASSE OCIOSA” de Thorstein Bunde Veblen, para investigar o surgimento da classe ociosa, o início da propriedade, o ócio e suas significações, e o estágio pecuniário. Num segundo momento, tendo como pano de fundo “O PROCESSO CIVILIZADOR”, objetivamos, sob a ótica de Norbert Elias, mapear as principais transformações ocorridas na sociedade européia durante os séculos VII a XVII, centrando as discussões acerca do crescente processo de autocontrole, ao qual a humanidade foi submetida. Destacamos, portanto, o papel central da busca do prazer e das emoções humanas para os estudos do lazer. Em síntese, procuramos em nosso estudo, possíveis pontos de aproximação entre VEBLEN e ELIAS, evidenciando a necessidade de um escólio mais amplo do fenômeno lazer e, da importância de interpretações desta natureza.

Essentially this study looks for interpreting the leisure phenomenon under two differential viewpoints. In a first moment we used the “THEORY OF THE LEISURE CLASS” by Thorstein Bunde Veblen, to investigate the leisure class appearance, the beginning of property, the idleness and its meanings, and pecuniary standard. In a second moment, based on a “ THE CIVILIZING PROCESS THEORY” we aim under the Norbert Elias` viewpoint mapping out the manly changes taked place in the Europe society during the seventh to seventeenth century, focusing the arguments to the increasing process of self-control, which making was submitted. Therefore, We feature the main role of de search for pleasure and the human emotions for the leisure studies. In short, We have looked for in our study possibles approximation points between VEBLEN and ELIAS, making evident the need of a wider interpretation of the leisure phenomenon and the importance of studies related to leisure.
