A Assistência Estudantil na Universidade Estadual de Ponta Grossa: Demandas e Perspectivas

Abstract

The main objective of this research is to analyze, from the demands and perspectives of undergraduate and graduate students at the State University of Ponta Grossa (UEPG), the institution's student assistance in the period 2019-2020. In this sense, it is intended, from this objective, to carry out the investigation of the UEPG Student Assistance Policy and to understand the conditions that favor the permanence of these academics at the university. It is also intended to analyze which actions the institution offers so that students have their permanence guaranteed, considering the demands presented by undergraduate and graduate students. This is a qualitative-quantitative, mixed research, seeking all the information collected, exploratory in nature and based on the critical dialectical method, and developed in the methodological aspect as follows: Bibliographic Research, Documentary Research, Semi-structured Questionnaire, Study of Case. Documentary and bibliographic research provided the theoretical framework for the construction of this investigation and the following texts were used: Behring and Boschetti (2011), Marilena Chauí (2001) and (2002), Soares (2002), Kowalski (2012), Frigotto ( 2010), Corbucci (2004), Lima (2007), as well as the documents: Federal Constitution (1988), National Student Assistance Policy (2007), Resolution CA 095 dated April 17, 2017 regarding the Student Assistance Policy from the State University of Ponta Grossa, Process No. 08036 dated May 19, 2016 regarding the final report of activities aimed at implementing the UEPG Student Assistance Policy. The Case Study was carried out at UEPG, at Campus Central and Campus Uvaranas located in the city of Ponta Grossa/PR. Data collection took place by sending semi-structured questionnaires, prepared through the Google Forms platform, to undergraduate and graduate students. A total of 40 answered questionnaires were obtained, 32 from undergraduate students and 8 from students from Stricto Sensu Postgraduate courses (Masters and Doctorate). For the analysis of the collected information, the Content Analysis technique proposed by Bardin (2011) was chosen. The answers were structured and organized through analytical categories. The dissertation is organized into three chapters: The first chapter aims to understand the transformations in higher education in Brazil since the University Reform in the 1960s, the emergence of student assistance in the country and how it is configured in the current scenario; The second chapter seeks to understand how higher education is structured in the state of Paraná and its particularities, as well as to start the debate about student assistance at UEPG, the locus of analysis in this case study; The third chapter aims to describe and analyze the information collected through semi-structured questionnaires. The results point to a focused and CLT student assistance, centered mainly on the income criterion for granting the benefits provided by the Institution's Student Assistance Policy.
